Hello.

If anyone can help me with the tool length required to set the shims on my gl1200 lifters I would be thankful.

I have searched with no avail.

Thanks

You mean the generic type? I have one that is only 9" long and it will do many engines with shims. In hindsight a longer one would give better leverage, but mine works.

Thanks for the reply Larry.

We may be talking about 2 different things.I am needing to check the lifter preload, the actual Honda tool is about 2" long and fit's where the lifter goes, then a measurement is taken and shims under the retaining bolt are added or removed as required.

I found some info on another forum, but I want to verify it.
