Sorry I work 10-12 hours a day so not much time to work on the bike. I'm hoping its something simple :)
I did spray contact cleaner and blew it out several times. I dont see any screws in the switch.
I rode it this morning to work it didnt die, but it doesn't do all the time and when it does it comes back on in a matter of seconds like a relay resetting?
Also I cleaned and checked the relay and main plug to the right of the battery.
And no the clock doesnt loose memory when it happens, just dash, lights and motor go out.Thank you, and please keep it up, it's really helping me.
The radio & clock memory get power from the main red wire prior to it going to the IGN switch. Check for corrosion on the connector on the right side of the inner fairing wall under the rubber cover.

my 1200a keeps losing power also

I was riding home yesterday and suddenly lost all power to my dash lights and headlight. The engine continued to run without issue. When I stopped at home I shut down the bike and tried to restart it. The instant I pressed the start button I lost all power. I let up on the button and it all came back on. Next time I pressed it it started but my volt Gage was reading less than 2v. I'm not very talented at working on the bike, anyone have any idea if this sounds more like the dogbone or the ignition switch?

Harris.
You should really open a new thread for this, as it's a different issue. Meanwhile, clean the starter switch. Open up the switch housing and spray behind the button with WD-40 while pressing the button about 1,000,406 times, give or take a million.
Another possibility is the high/low switch. Next time you go dark, flip it to see if anything changes. The only thing is, those common maladies don't usually affect the dash lights.
Also, replace the light fuses in the fuse panel. Not the main fuse. It has nothing to do with this.

Oh, and welcome to the forum.

I had the same experience. All electrical power gone whilst riding. This happened three or four times. In the end I discovered that the earth from the battery to the engine was not 100% tight. After tightening I am the happiest winger ever. Thanks for this excellent forum.
