Getting ready to place order for a new set and noticed two sizes available for front the Metzeler recommended size of

130/90H-16 load cap. 677 lbs. or
MT90B-16 load cap. 783 lbs.

Called Metzeler and they said MT90 for Harley and would not suggest for Goldwing. What do you guys think and has anybody have experience with MT90s

Thanks
Scott

edit:

response from American Motorcycle Tire

Thank you very much for your inquiry!! MT90-16 and 130/90-16 are
interchangeable. The MT90 sizing is generally used on American bikes and
the 130 on Metric. You can go with either one in this case. Please feel
free to choose either one for the bike. If you have any other questions,
please let me know and I can help.

i've been using the 130/60H-16 FOR THE LAST 3 YEARS

EXCELLENT over the Dunlops that were on there

since the 90's are probably a different cross section etc
it might cause a clearance problem but if the specs are the same go for it

i know if they were a little taller and fit with no problems i might consider them next time

are the tread patterns the same ?

after checking the metzler website the MT's are actually shorter so that would make your speedometer even further off

you might want to ask them about the 140/90B-16 they list in their catalog it is a little wider and says 908 lbs cap but its 4 mm wider and diameter is 8mm taller hmmmmm

if you would try that let me know

Got the 130/60H-16 on the front of my GL1200

Funny how they said "The MT90 sizing is generally used on American bikes"

When I worked at the bike shop most of the Harley riders did not want a tire with the metric sizing on the side walk!

Welcome to the forum Nimrod.

GL12 specs a 130/90-16. A 60% aspect ratio would be way too small for the bike.

What brand of tire is currently on the bike? Metzlersmake the 12handle heavy and you lose that jet fighter feel. Also, they induced the worst head shake of any tire I've used. The good thing about them was they wore out quickly, so I could get them off the bike sooner.

Try a set of Bridgestone Spitfires. Much less expensive and way better all around.

Dennis. Presently finishing up set of E3s. Seemed to be OK but they did seem to lose the confident feel they had when they had less miles. Presently little over 8000 mi. Will look into Bridgestones.

Thanks
