GL1200 Panel Light Still On (Tail Light)

497 Views 6 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  ErnieB
I went over my electrical with a fine tooth comb and did find one short which effected my fog lights. Fixed it. Panel Light still on. All lights work plus signals.

gl told me to check the 9 pin connector. I found it but don't know what to check. Any more suggestions?
Thank you.

You are looking for corrosion, mostly. Have you disconnected all aftermarket lighting?
Yep.

I had the same problem, turned out to be corroded socket. I cleaned all sockets and connectors and no more problems.
I will recheck the sockets again.
Since the Interstate only has two sockets that are monitored by the tail light sensor, and the lights work correctly, the problem could only be caused by the sensor, or a shorted wire going from the indicator bulb to the sensor. Unplugging the sensor and having the light go out, verified the sensor was providing the ground.
I sent Ernie another sensor. Incident resolved.
Thanks again to glhonda. He sent me a taillight sensor and it fixed the problem instantly.
