I just replaced a burnt out coil in my '86 GL1200, and now my aftermarket radio has terrible static when playing audio at all volume levels. To make it weirder, the static only happens when the engine is running; when I'm idling and kill the engine via the start/stop switch (leaving the ignition in the "on" position), the static magically disappears!

Anybody had this issue before?

Problem solved!

I just tinkered around with it for an hour or so and it appears that it was a plug wire routing issue causing some sort of electrical interference. I unplugged all of the plug wires and made sure they were free and clear of anything on their way up to the coils, plugged them back in and the problem is now gone.

Hopefully this helps anyone down the road with a similar problem.
