Hello,

What a great site...I was hoping someone might have an answer to my problem.

I'm in the middle of replacing a bad set of bearings. The old tapered roller bearings came right out. The problem is the outer races...both the top and bottom races are really jammed in there. Using a drift and quite a bit of force with the hammer just is not moving them.

Any other ways to remove these races?

Thanks for the help

God Bless:cooler:

As you can see of course there is a tool available but I cant see why your having so much of a problem.

It could be your applying too much force in one place and jamming the race into the seat.

The top and bottom races are a different size and using the tool, the top race is removed first then the lower one.

Try using a little heat on the frame to expand it a little and try to drive the races out evenly all around
