I'm trying to take my rocker arms out to have them refaced, and the intake rockers won't come out (I think) because the adjuster caps won't come out. The Haynes manual suggests using a magnet, but this hasn't worked for me yet.

Does anybody have some other clues for how to get these out?

Have you tried tapping them as well as using the magnet?

Yep, I tried tapping on it, but that didn't work either. The cap looks like it might be a really tight fit, and sometimes it goes a little cockeyed down there.

I'm wondering if perhaps the oil is too thick and needs to be washed out of there?

In case anybody else has this same issue-- wd40 sprayed up around the cap resulted in success. I still had to slap (with my hand) the camshaft holder a bunch, but I got them out.

Sometimes the oil in there can turn to gunk and jam it up. WD40 was good thinking.
