I have a 85 aspy and doing alot of work to it and I want to make sure the timing is right before I put it all back together. I have the clymer manual and know the process but my question is the manual shows one mark at T1 but mine has three marks, one at the T, one at the 1 and one at the F, all three are visible in the view hole at the same time, not sure which one is right, any ideas.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

my experience w 87 1200a but should be same, t1 in window both cams in up pos and proceed. gambler has a thread in general faq , very good clear and worked for me. if your in that far may want to change belts if you haven't already or know how old they are good luck, more will chime in soon:action::waving:

I did change belts and just want to make sure the timing is right before I close it up.
Everybody keeps saying T1 mark and I understand that but mine has 3 marks, one at the T and one behind it at the 1 and one behind that at the F. All three marks are within an inch. this is what mine looks like. which mark would be right any input would be appreciated.

Hi

Ive always timed mine up with the T mark. Thats what it says in the manual and have never had a problem. Runs like a dream. Hope this helps.. mines an 84 Aspencade.

The T stands for TOP (dead center) and the F stands for FIRE (where the plug should fire at idle). The 1 applies to both the T and the F, like T1 and F1. There is another set of marks 180 degrees away with T, 2 and F. If you are 'putting together' timing belts and such you want the T. If you are putting in points, you want the F.
