Jum,
On my 80 GL1100 and 83 1100 Aspencade, it is the 3rd fuse from the right. If it isn't the fuse, then It is the turn signal plug underneath your false gas tank, on the left side, towards the front. Being an 82, it is probably out of the harness, and lying under the breather to the left, or close by. It is round, has 2 plugs, with an extra green wire coming out of it. Manually switch your blinkers, and you can hear it click. It can be repaired by cleaning, and black tape, (Will not last but around a year) but they are not all that expensive.

Jim, the signals quit working on my 1200 a couple times. The first time, after I snugged up my steering head bearings, I didn't have a good connection on the cancel sensor so pushed on the rubber cap in the fork under the center of the handlebar. I felt a click and they worked after that. The second time, my signals would not work when it was damp outside so I took the left switch apart and cleaned it real good with contact cleaner and packed some dielectric grease in there. Now they work like new again. Paul

You may also want to check the flasher/relay. It's under the faux-tank, I believe it's on theleft side. With the plastic removed, you can hear the 4-way flasher clicking when activated, the turn signal flasher is the same shape/size on the opposite side of the air-cleaner... :gunhead:

on the 86 the flasher should be on the left underneath the seat area, the hazard flasher is on the right in this area

what u can do is switch the hazard and the turn signal relay ans see if the problem fixes one and other is now the problem if so now is a good time to convert to regular auto flashers since a honda flasher will set you back about $56

:waving:That's not true! I recently replaced the turn signal relay on my '83 Interstate which uses the same one that's on the GL1200 and is an improved design over the original factory unit and it cost me under $40 which included sales tax.I bought mine from adealer inSeattle but in the UK it might cost more. It pays to shop around as some dealers charge $'s more for the same part. The part number for the Honda turn signal relay is "38301-MG9-681". It now is a square plactic unit instead of the round metal unit and I was still able to use the rubber cushion.mount. My turn signals were very intermittent and then quit working all together. If I moved the turn signal switch for a left turn the left turn signal would go out but the right one would come on steady while neither of the rear turn signal lights illuminated.Same symptom would happen if I moved the turn signal for a right turn the right turn signal would be out while the left one would be on steady. If this is what is happening on your bike then you need to replace the turn signal relay.

hi..thanks for your replies...went into garage today turned ignigtion on turned my indicator turn signal on to the right and i heard like a sizzling noise like you joined 2 live wires togetherdoes the same when turn signal to the left.. when turn signals are turned of it stops..did this about 10 times asi was trying.. then the sizzling stopped and my indicators started working again.. the tank lid was up when i was listening were it was coming from.. it sounds to be definatley coming from to the front of your plasticwater tank on the right hand sideor just underneath it. i can see a small plastic blackbox about2inch x 1 inchbut cant get at it i dont know whether that is it... but i will have to investigate it further. to be on the safe side..any ideas on this please.. i will take the false tank of..how many bolts do i need to takethis of.. sorry guys but i am not a mechanic but i will have a go.. kind regards jim :waving::waving:

There is one bolt at the rear of the tank under each side cover. The side covers just pop-off. Up front of the tank there is a vinyl insert on each side of the fairing that must be removed to gain access to a mounting bolt. You may have to remove the seat. :gunhead:

missed the fact that you had an interstate, yep flashers nd hazards are up front of tank both left and right sides

Also,
Try gently "Tapping" the blinKer module under the false fuel tank, and see if they work. If it does, replace the unit.

changed my flasher on an `83 wing went with an automotive one instead of honda`s ($5 vs,$45) auto is sq. not round but fits, just undo connector (no cutting that way) and attach . Make sure you buy 3 prong relay
