normally its just a piece of crud has gotten stuck in the lifter, you might try to run some seafoam in oil for a couple hundred miles and then change the oil
hopefully this might help

does noise go away after engine warms up?

What is your complaint? What are your symptoms? I had trouble getting a lifter out of the head once.....:?
Ticking could be as simple as an off-center collar.

I think that's called a "floater" Mike.....

Lifters

I guess what I am asking, is. Is there a procedure for pumping up the lifters after head removal, and reinstall?

With all lifters collapsed all valves closed, how do you pump them back up?

Thanks

I think you're looking for an answer to a problem you don't have.
I've had the heads off numerous 1200's. Had the lifters out, and back in, adjusted preload, etc. Only bad lifters won't pump up. Once you get oil pressure you're off to the races.
Thats what I thought. But I did not want to take a chance. I know they are alltogether different than the GL1000. Thanks for the reply.

Is it all lifters in said head? or just one valve? if all, it might be the restrictor in block just under head gasket if the 1200 used one?
