The picture shows the other end of the hose.
Empty that container at least every oil change or greater if riding in wet conditions.

Yep........ crankcase beather collector thing. When I first got my 1200 it was full. No-one ever emptied it I guess. I checked mine about every 2 or 3 oil changes and never really had much in it. The old dyas they used to just let a tube run out the bottom. Owners manual says check it if you ride with the throttle wide open occasionally, Or in the rain alot.

Looks like the fluid reseviour. Catches condensation from the air cleaner. I didn't know the LTD had one.

Anyway, there should be a hose coming from the air cleaner to a plasticchamber just behind the air cleaner. On the bottom side of that chamber there is a hose that goes to the reseviour.

so if the hose runs out below the exhaust, is there any reason to empty the reservoir or hook the hose up? I did not see a drain. It looked like a sealed container other than the nipple for the hose. The hose runs down with the battery hose and clears the frame and exhaust.

Other than the "green" factor?

Have you checked to see if the hose is connected at the top? If not, that upper tank will just empty on top of the engine. Seems like that would eventually make a mess.

I thought about checking the other end, just haven't done it yet.
