hello i have two 85 gl1200 aspencade one with cb and one without. the one with cb has a black box that the cdi module plugs in to .dose anywon know what that is becuse i want to use the wiring harness from the parts bike and do away with the cb. but it dosenot have this box. im in the prosess of changing the charging stator and the plug by the batery melted



any help

But just guessing here.....It could be a noise filter for the alternator noise to the CB.

I do believe it could be:

31610-MG9-931 Filter kit,radio noise

My 85 didnt have one when I bought it new but if I remember correctly it was added on as a non safety recall when I complained about the intercom interference.... never did work anyway, finally removed it.

I think that's why we see some bikes with them and some not.
