GL1200A lightbulb

I have a 1984 GL1200A that needs a couple of lightbulbs that I'm having a hard time identifying. On each side of the headlight, there is another light, sidemarker for lack of a better term. Mine are amber, and I dropped the headlight assmbly while I had it out for other work. All 3 bulbs (including headlamp) were casualties. Anyway, the parts book calls for a very small bulb, but they don't fit mine. The bulb says 12v 8w, and has a double contact base. The base is the same as an 1157 taillamp bulb, in that it is the samesize, and is indexed (1 of the pins that sticks out & holds it in place is higher than the other). A visit to my local autoparts store produced nothing, and the helpful clerk knew nothing aabout bulbs, but understands computer application listings, if it is a passenger car less than 50 years old! Anyway, my local motorcyle shop says that the lights must be aftermarket because they take the wrong bulbs and he thinks all 1200A's had clear lenses.

Does anyone have an idea what the bulb number is, and does anyone have a 1200 that has the amber lenses?

Thank you.

Joe

amber lenses are rare and yes they are aftermarket. Many pople who have the amber lenses converted those running lights to turn signals. I always wanted to find amber or blue bulbs to put in therer. Mine have been blown since I aqquired the bike and I havnt gotten around to replacing it yet. I have seen a few wings with the stock bulbs and the light isnt bright so another reason for me not replacing the bulb is too see what others have done. I may want to splice some new terminals for higher output bulbs . Or try to have them come oen steady with the turn signals in order to light up the side in turns.
