GL1200LTD tapping on right side

Describe the tapping... loud, soft, fast, slow, rpm dependant... "tapping" is just to general. Also, these bikes (at least mine) are a bit "talkative" anyway, so it may be nothing... but we really need more detail.

if i let it set fore week after and start it up 5 min. of running its start tapping for a few secounds stop and start again last year it would stop. today put a new battery and start it up for first time this year road 15 miles and it comes and goes all the time

the tapping on the right side, is normal, its the pump cutting in and out, it doesnt run all the time, only when required.

The ltd's don't experience the same pump noises as the carbed models... different set-up entirely. Sounds like good old fashioned valve noise from the hydrolic lifters. I know this may be "taboo" and might get some folks goin', but have you considered using delo 400 le for oil? I can only speak from personal experience, but the delo shut my valves up considerably.
