I bought this bike about a month ago. love it but I'm got to get it running better. I guess I will buy a service manual and see what I can do.

Question ( 1) The feulsystem light stays on and it runs rough time to time ?
what is de- error code telling me ? I found ( small black boxunderneath the trunk with three small lights on it. (the back of the injection controle unit.)
The two on the left side areflashingandone on the right is solid red.
I looked it up but didn't understand what it was telling me was wrong or what to change ?

Question (2) Also sometimes the insterment gauges go weird : Like the fuel gauge reeds backwards ( from the bottom up) and temp gauges reed backwards from the top down. This will happen for 4 or 5 minutesthen they are ok.

The code is telling there is a problem with the Gr sensor, the sensor on the right of the 2 on the back on the right head. First check the connections where they plug into the harness. Sensor resistance is 140-180 ohms and the air gap between the sensor and the tip of the rotor should be .023"

Don't know on the instruments, maybe bad ground.

I don't know how your skills are but it is pretty straight forward. If you can read a multimeter and see corroded connectors you can do it.

sounds like first you'll need the sei supplement,pm me an email address

also reseat the cables on the travel computer and see if your readings improve, also the three main cables leading from the fusebox may be in need of cleaning

I have an LTD, the fuel system light was on when I got it, but once I got it running, it ran fairly well, and there were no codes on the ECU. But the digital dash did not work. While messing with it, I unplugged the trip computer, the fuel system light went out, and the dash started working. I was never able to get any kind of display on the computer, but the display was so badly damaged by the sun that you couldn't see it anyway.

While I was working on other parts of the bike, the engine developed a loud err err err noise, and the idle became erratic. Still no codes on the ECU. I found the noise was being made by a vacuum leak where the hoses had rotted off the reed valves, which have something to do with the idle. I still don't understand it completely. They are connected to an AIR valve behind the right valve cover. There are also two coolant hoses connected to this valve. While messing with that, I discovered that every single rubber hose on the entire fuel injection system was rotted, cracked, and leaking. I ended up removing and completely disassembling and cleaning the entire fuel injection system, and replacing all the rubber hoses. It was a several week job after work every day. But it ran great after that, and still does.

No that is not it. The connector for those is a white 4 pin on the ignition coil bracket, best to measure at the ECU. Pins 8 (blue/white) and #24 (blue) wires. GL is #7 (yellow/white) & 24 (blue) for comparison.
