My 4 way switch worked earlier this year but I just tried to use it the other day and it won't stay in. It will flash if I hold it but no knotch/catch that holds it in. I tried the CRC cleaner that someone mentioned with no effect but it acts to me more like a piece of plastic possibly broke off inside. This is another winter project I guess. I think this is a good safety feature if you happen to stop on the side of the road so I'll see 'wazzup' with it!

Good advice as usual from you 'old' guys! I picked up some CRC cleaner but it still wouldn't stay in when I pushed button, even after a lot of spraying. I then hit it with a couple of shorts of WD40 and then back to CRC. Voilà...It's working again. I did pull it apart but it looked fairly clean in there. Now I'm a happy camper! :action:

Where is the bulb that lights the handlegrip switches? I looked while I had it split in half but it wasn't real obvious. Neither side light up.

aw47. When I split the split block it really looked exceptionally clean in there but I'm assuming any old electrical grease caused the problem. During the summer I never had the problem so now that it's fairly cold probably contributed to it.

John, I think if the "inards" aren't broken for some reason you shouldn't see any springs coming out. Just the two phillips screws and a slight tap and it came apart. It doesn't separate a bunch but you can get the CRC straw inside ok to spray.

I really thought some sort of a plastic detent or something had broken off the switch and I would end up replacing it. I'm glad I listened to the voices of experience here plus I didn't realize there was a How To about it.

CRC is good stuff too bad it is kind of pricey. I bought a can last weekend for these sticking switches and used several squirts. Yesterday I was rushing around a little to take a bike ride before the sun went down. Knocked the new can of CRC over, it did a swan dive to the floor and broke the plastic plunger in the top. The can immediately started spraying relieving the pressure in the can. I had to put the can outdoors while it was spraying. So if I need to do anymore electrical cleaning I need to buy another can!! :sadguy: The upside I did have a good ride which will probably be one of my last for the season! :action:
