hi don some of the guys here with the older 1500 found that if you turn the idle ajuster in the gas cap area up and down a few time it relived the prob for them

Wasn't there a problem with the vacuum line in front of the filler cap getting crimped on the '88? My memory is sketchy...but...it had something to do with the idle.

More than likely it is a vaccum leak.
Or leaks.

this 94 was doing same thing. found a vacuum line on left side[big one] where you sync carbs had gone bad in the curve. also under carbs, under rubber mat theres a smaller 1 with ell shape was bad also. replaced both and no-more up and down in idle.

My 88 GL1500 run ruff but with the choke on it run good. Put new plugs checked the timing belts and compression all good line up with all marks. This happen when I down shifted to first gear and cracked the throttle open, what i think was to far because afterward the bike started running bad. But again with the chock on it run good. Now what did I do??????????????. and anyone help me with this problem??????????????????

all responses to this question are to be placed in your original thread, please try to keep it all in one place so that folks will know what you have received advice on. Adding onto the bottom of a very old thread (5 years now) does not draw anyone to your problem. Most folks will skip the thread because they have seen it already.

thank you
