GL1500 Cassette tape door stuck

HI Guys. I've got a '96 Aspencade and have never used the tape player on it. No longer having cassette tapes, I finally got around to putting the wife's iphone tape adaptor into the unit. This adaptor looks like a regular tape, but has a wired stereo plug attached to it via a lead.

Whilst the audio test went well, at one point I pushed the door closed (it did need a firm push). It was a bit tight against the protruding lead, but it clicked close. When I went to eject the adaptor, the unit just started clicking away and the door has stayed shut. After a while the jammed tape symbol appeared on the display. I'm pretty sure the adaptor is jammed because of the wire but not 100%.

So my question is, has anyone else had this problem with an adaptor, and if so how to get the door to release?

Try pushing down on the lid to squash the cable a bit flatter. That can sometimes make a difference.
Also, on my adapter, I ran the wire out the front side of that door. If you look there are some little areas where you can run the wire out and not have to squish the wire as much.
Thanks for the advice guys. The solution was to pull up on the cord poking out while it was doing the click...click...click thing. Dunno why I didn't think of doing that first up!
