GL1500 Chrome Clutch Cover with Switches

625 Views 10 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  Silicon Sam
I'm not sure this should be in here but it is a tech question. Sort of.
The chrome, clutch side, cover with 4 switches on my 1500 is cracked and the polish is tarnished. Accorcing to a couple of parts companies, it is discontinued. Does anyone know where I can get one ?

Thanks,
Dom

You may want to try a salvage yard for one and hope it's in good shape.
I did find the one for the right side if you wanted to switch everything over.

Thank you ! I need the brake side anyway so I'll get that one and see if it's switchable.

Thanks again !
I've got the black version of this one: Available either left or right. I got right since my CB controls would block them if I used the left side.

But since you don't put in your location, I don't know if they ship to your country, planet, etc....
Thanks !
I need the older style with the 4 switches.
the Country is Connecticut. lolc

Oh, that explains why you didn't want to list it. :cheeky1:
I have also seen a few nice ones made from an electrical box available at most hardware stores. The manufactured ones do look nice but they are all just cheap/weak plastic covered in chrome and almost all of them end up cracking.

The Show Chrome one I quoted from CycleMax above is made of aluminum however...
crap ! I can't believe I didn't think of it. I work at a sign company. We make all kinds of signs out of aluminum.
THANK YOU for the great suggestion !
There's no reason I can't copy the plastic one in aluminum.
The ones I have now are the plastic, chrome plated ones. And, all 4 switches are used.
I would have to get both sides new, which I'm considering, but i dn't really know how they ran the wiring..... yet.
It may look a little funny, but with longer screws, I don't see why you couldn't stack two of the 3 switch pods on top of each other on one side......

I went with the right side myself, the SE model has has the CB controls on the left, and one of the switches would be covered by the controls.
