GL1500 Cruise control not working...

I found some great threads doing a search on these forums and plan to check all mentioned. CC lights come on at startup normally, on light does not come on, PO told me it wouldn't but system works...

I did not notice one peculiar symptom mentioned that my bike has, when I push the set button(thinking the system might be "on") my head light goes out "while" the set button is pushed and comes back after release.

Ever heard of that? BTW, I'm a 1500 newb.
