Hello everyone, well I finished installing my rake kit in my 97 Goldwing Aspencade trike, but now my battery goes dead, I bought a new battery (needed one anyways) then that battery died, I followed it to the red with yellow striped wire on my radio wire connector, this wire is hot even with the key in the off position, plus when ignition is off the rear drive post for the tape player keeps running when key is off (draining the battery) but goes off when I turn the key on, plus the eject button does not open the casset door, Does anyone happen to have a possible fix for this and thanks everyone for taking the time to read thisraying:

If that's the wire for the radio channels memory, it should be hot all the time. Tape player running all the time is wrong, I would start checking at the ignition switch as it may not be fully turning off.

I'm not sure but when I cut that wire and plugged the radio back in the cassest did not run with the key off, so i'm still stumped because the tape cassestt doesn't play with this wire cut also. Thanks

Check the black/green wire for power, it should only be hot with the key in run or acc. Also check the ground that attaches to the radio chassis.

Red with yellow stripe is the memory wire (from the 5A BACK UP fuse):it's supposed to be hot - so that ain't it.


I would wonder about pinched or damaged wires from the rake kit. Issues with how the clutch-side switch cluster wring was handled while the bars were loose from the tree, and or some other introduction of a pinch/cut opportunity would be my first look. Also - how was the turn-signal cancelling switch addressed? The speed sensor wire there can feed back to the ALC in the radio, though it doesn't really sound like your trouble...

This all sounds more like the "tuning" switch (red with black stripe or yellow with red stripe) has been pinched to ground and the cassette is trying to change direction -- on the electronic cassette mechanism decks, the "direction change" will complete before the deck is "allowed" to shut off -- so if your deck is doing something other than ejecting with the key off... It may be trying to switch directions -- leading to my thoughts on the grounded/pinched wire (to the "tuning switch" in the clutch cluster).

I don't have a bike that has the electronic Cassette eject in the shop right now, but I kinda wonder if someone here couldn't dulplicate your issue -- Radio set to play the cassette, finger holding the clutch-cluster channel button down, then shut off the bike to see if the cassette runs a motor (all without releasing the tuning/direction switch...) ??

What i have found is the cassest player is in the up position and will not allow the cassett to go down when inserted, I just purchased another radio off ebay and will see if maybe its an internal thing as I have had a xm radio with tape cassett to operate it in the cassett foe quite sometime and believe that might have something to do with it also, if the new radio does the samething, I'll check the wires, thanks for all the detailed information, I'll let you know when I find out the problem is fixed

just installed the radio I got from ebay and all is well, so guess it must have been the old radio cassett wasn't working properly, Thanks a bunch for all your replys, problem solved!

Dana, you could also install a inline modulator under your seat to give yourself the same option of an external source to plug into. They plug directly into your antenna under the seat, you turn it on and it plays your mp3/xm radio or whatever. Then you would do away with the wire running out of your cassette and maybe having this issue again....
