I've replaced the dampers between the alt and engine. Alternator was checked and is good. It runs smooth below 2500 and over 3000. What next?

Usually it's either the dampers or the bearing in the alternator rear cover that is to blame. With new dampers fitted I think you need to get the alternator looked at again.

Thanks I'll pull it and have it checked again at a different source.
