hi,is it ok to eliminate the collecter box on my gl1500 1998,reason asking is that it is badly rusted and i was hopeing to connect the exhust pipe directly to the 3 into 1 pipe coming from the heads via a connecter pipe,thanks....

TorqueMonster and X-Tractor kits do exactly what you describe -- both add additional length something like 0.5m to each of the flow-paths connecting straigt to the silncer's input.

The X-tractor includes a cross-over to help equalize pressures between the pipes (some dyno-sheets support that this helps to increase the low-RPM torque); due to limitations, this kit will set the silencers backwards somewhat...

was planning making up my own connecting pipe ,so i would be right in thinking this would be ok then to bin the collecter box??

I believe that you should be OK to toss in the dustbin. Several here have directly coupled (with short adapters) to other silencers.

so, yes.

I can't speak for my Wing - but I did remove the collector on my '84 750 Shadow with the HD sportster pipes run's fine, sounds great. :action::action:
