I'm needing to replace the back seat rest for the passenger on my new to me 1995 goldwing but i guess i got a touch of color blindness i thought it was black but other people said it looked tan or reddish color the paint code under the gas lid says color r-176c code r176 but i cant seem to find anything on it

When you look at one of the fiche pages, there is a cross reference table for the paint color code to the color code for the seat and the dashboard/speaker pods as a TYPE. Then the fiche listing will call out that code, not the paint code. Not an easy path until you've done it once.

R176C is called Candy Spectra Red. That is the bike's paint color.
Honda used 2 different trim colors depending on the paint color. Trim means the seat and all plastic pieces. For your red paint, I believe the correct seat & plastics color is code is C200 Tuscany Red which is a very dark, earthy brick red.
My '95 Pearl Glacier White SE has Cosmopolitan Gray trim which is a dark slate gray color. I think it was '98 when Honda started using true black trim on the 1500.
