I have a 1990 GL1500 and need to change the fork oil. Can this be done on the bike without the removal of the forks. Also what difference does progressive fork springs make to the Goldwings handling

hi mate

i have just done mine and no you dont have to take the forks off.

do a search a-z workshop on the right and side or a straight search and you will find loads of info

progresive springs are documentated as as well

Brilliant thanks for your help can't wait for the weekend to see what difference it has made. I think the oil is about 15 years old!!

so was mine i also refilled and and reasembled bounced the forks on the weight of the bike and drained again the oil came out the same colour as the first so hopefully got the gunge out

you need to work out how much to put in as there will always be a residue left

search for the topic of fork oil amount, lastly you will have to lift the bike weight of the forks to take the caps off or they will hit you

also if you do take caps off you will struggle to get the caps on again i had to get my 18 year old to help me
