hello,just to ask whats the best oil for my forks,it a 1998 gl1500,it dont have the schrader valves on the top of the forks,i have triked the bike,the front seems very soft, it will easily move 3inches down just wheeling it and pulling the front brake,in fact it feels like it bottems out,thanks for any help:):)

I had 15w put in mine when they were overhauled. Very nice.
I think the factory is 8w, but I am often mistaken.

I use Honda, 15W fork oil. I would suggest you also change the Front Bushing

They are cheap and your in there already....... Might think fork seals also........ Or even Progressive springs if you don't already have them.

With the bike in the air (front end), Brakes disconnected, tupperware off, tire off etc..., loosen the top 2 clamp bolts on each side of the triple tree and the whole assembly slides right down and out. In the very Bottom of the forks, Where the wheel sits, there is an allen bolt that can be removed. This drains the fluid and releases the internals in order to separate the bottom from the top fork tubes.

Do you have a manual of any sort??
