The job isn't difficult I've done several on the 1000, 1100 and 1500. All are pretty much the same. Basically you can do it on the bike or remove the fork tubes and do the job on the bench. The job entails removing the front calipers, fender and the front wheel leaving the fork tubes cleared of anything bolted on. Then drain the fork tubes by removing the little bolt on the bottom of the fork just above the axle hole. Once the oil is out slide up the tapered rubber dust cover on top of the fork lower or slider and remove the snap ring just below that. Next remove the allen screw from the bottom of the fork slider up inside the axle hole. Once that's out using the fork tube and lower like a slide hammer push the lower up into the fork tube then yank it out. Repeating that several times should pop the fork seal and upper bushing out of the slider. Reversing the above gets it back together as they say. Actually if you do a search on the technical forum on fork seal replacement you'll find a more complete posting that I wrote some time ago. Also there are quite a few others who have posted on the subject.
