Recently bought a 1988 GL1500 and as I look it over I am finding little things here and there that need to be fixed. Both the Fuse box cover and the Relay cover are missing.

P/N 38205-MN5-000 Fuse Box Cover

P/N 38206-MN5-000 Relay Box Cover

It does not appear that any one is selling these anymore. What is the solution to cover these two areas from the elements?

Thanks....

I did a fiche lookup on CycleMax for 1988, and the 2 covers showed a $0.00 price. Looked up the same 2 covers for 1997, and they both showed up. Fuse cover or relay cover are $8.39 each.

No reason the later models shouldn't fit. I would think anyway.

Since you are in Cedar Park, maybe we can get together this weekend, and if my '97 covers will fit your bike, then you have found a solution in a later year cover.

If you both have the repair manuals, check that the relays and fuses are in the same locations on both early and later years, I think I read there may be some differences that way, size will fit.

Yeah - stuff on the '88 is a bit different than stuff on these later years, but nothgin a little MEK or Acetone won't "fix" (clear off the misleading new lables and label your own). The owner's manual has the information you'll need for what is where, as does the OEM service manual or Electrical Troubleshooting Manual.

I can help with locations and identifications if you get that far.

Thanks for the feed back. All sites I saw it on showed $0 price. I saw one in Ebay Australia for $24.

Matching up to the newer model might be cool.

Got it torn down right this minute. Just did the Petcock bypass and fixed a lower fuel hose leak. (Ordered the kit)
Have the false tank off. Also pulled funeral escort light kit off bike.

Once completed I still have the oil change and rear end oil change. So maybe by Sunday I will be able to ride again.

I Might know someone that has those for an 88 local here. I'll give him a call.

OK, I was sympathizing with you right until that last part. I should have my bike ready to ride by Sunday, too. THE FIRST SUNDAY IN APRIL!!! :yelling::sad:

What.....You don't get the Feb thaw there in Manitoba?:sadguy:

Well I went for a short ride for you this morning down to Pacific Beach and Shelter Island to sell some of my woodworking tools, 65 deg on the way back sure makes it easier to put up with the traffic here.
