GL1500 Idle Adjust Screw

Any ideas how to cure a stiff idle adjust screw (GL1500 under gas filler door)?
Tried lubing at the top end (no difference). Maybe needs lubing at the carb end/linkage, but can't find access. What do I need to remove to gain access? Took of the right side panel but can't see anything. Maybe behind the left side panel?

i have had decent luck with this-- holding the thottle open a little and turning the knob hard back an forth . it will come loose .have not broke anything yet. just rember it is on a flex drive cable.
