Consider a reasonably priced smart phone. I picked up a no contract lg motion (used by metro pcs) for $99 .You don't HAVE to activate it for phone service, it has built in gps (yes it works even without activation of the phone). Plus, if you have a wifi signal nearby you can use it for online access, and with a memory card it can also become your music source. (just bluetoothed mine into the 1800 for a really good price). Not a terribly big screen, which is nice maybe, and it speaks directions so you don't have to look at it.
