Well after a few years and many tries I want to report that I now have AM radio stations, thanks to all who gave me help. I finally sent the radio off to Sierra and they fixed it. Now it works fine but I have no instrument panel screen.

Ed, do you mean no readout from the radio or no LCD at all?

I have the clock, but no radio readout.......I am going to try and check it before I send it out

Ed, I just converted my GL1500 back to the stock radio, and found that if the connection wasn't just right, the radio portion of the display wouldn't light up. Pull of the rubber protector on the radio and give everything a good wiggle and see if the radio doesn't come back on. Also make sure you're cassette switch isn't engaged accidentally. Maybe you just have a dirty or weak connection.

kgypsy that is exactly what I am hoping is the problem, just a bit too cold here to work on it right now
