I have a Pakit Rak for my GL1800. A buddy with a GL1500 likes it and would like to get one also. He is concerned about the heat from his stock pipes causing problems. He has used a homemade rack in the past, and the exhaust heat caused a problem. So much so that he had to use plywood on the rack to protect the bag. I know this isn't an issue with the GL1800, but does anyone have any experience using a Pakit Rak with the GL1500? TIA

I have a 1500 and have used the rack many times with no problems. You have to get "turn down" extensions for your exhaust pipes.

Paul C,

I have a home made rack that I carry a plastic 40qtcooler on and it sits about 6" from the muffler (after market). And they are straight out the back with no problem besides a little exhaust stains (dirt).
