I have changed the belt out on my cassette player with the help of the post on the Faqs page. After getting everything back together and installing, no sound! Tape rewinds, fast fowards and goes into play. Bought a cleaning tape when ordering the belts. Put it in to clean the head, put cassette tape in, still no sound:X
Thanks for the help, I will take it back apart and lube. And Wayne, I was in no way cracking on Sierra.....you guys do fantastic work and have great feed back on the forum, I just don't have spare funds to send it in, plus wanted to see if I could get it working myself.
Well, I got it back apart and used a can of air that I use for the key board to blow the gunk out, then used some silicone spray on a Q tip to try and lube every thing. Gonna let everything dry out over night before I try it again
Don't know if this may be of help, but are you getting any "hissing" sound out of the amplifier (speakers) with the volume turned up to max, if you are, then and assuming you are in "cassette" or "tape" mode, then it would suggest the tape is not passing the heads as it needs to, or perhaps the tape is not not moving at all across the playback heads?....suspect a tape drive loading problem, may I assume the radio is fine?...and why did you need to replace the belt?.....I do suspect ( after far too many years fixing tape decks and the like) the issue is maybe a drive issue, perhaps related to the belt replacement?...please ease up on the silicon spray tho, lubing "everything" isn't neccessarily a good thing in a tape deck!
