Got caught in the Florida downpour the other day, radio was working fine as always....on FM station............got quite a soaking.......suddenly, it went to AM and started to search all the bandwidth.............no stopping. Turned it off, got home, same issue, let it sit a while in the garage...........it would just kick the cassette door open and nothing more. Eventually, it would play some AM, but as soon as I switch to FM, it kicks right back to AM. The motor in the tape deck started to make some noises and all went dead.........no AM no FM no Tape.........I can hear crackling when I turn the volume knob......but not static..............I have removed the unit, taken all the circuit boards out.........no water anywhere....it's been a few days.....made have dried out by now.....had it in the house a few days (the radio).........Anyway........anyone out there have any leads aradio repair guy.....or a place to buy a used one.....1998 GL1500 SE.........I don't care if the tape doesn't work...........just need my FM....

There has been several on e-bay for decent prices, and for the repair, try Sierra Electronics.

OR. get a mp3 or iPod with fm- got my mp3 withfm, for under $40. Use ear buds, there is even a $4 cable to connect 2 sets of ear buds. cheaper and has very good sound. The ear bud wires are the antenna. In wet weather keep under the rainsuit.MIne will operate for over 12 hours on a full charge.

I agree with Nightwizard, for repairs send to Sierra Electronics. http://www.sierra-mc.com/

Just for laughs and giggles, since you have the radio apart, try using a hair dryer to dry things out good. Can't hurt anything..........!!

Sierra Electronics - those folks know the Goldwing's radio and audio equipment and are reasonable about their prices.

Thanks to all for the info on Sierra.............Yes, I did take the entire radio apart, but never found any water inside. It did sit a few days in the house...AC running so it may have dried out...........anyway, will let you know about the repair from sierra
