95 GL1500. When I go off a small bump or ledge. Like a change in pavement, it sounds and feels like something in the rear is loose. Like as if my rear luggage bin has a bunch of stuff in it thats jumping around.
Like the shock isnt responding or extending fast enough.
Time for new shocks?

Hard to say from your description, but I doubt it. BTW, one shock is basically a bag of air. The other has the spring, oil and damping.

Begin by general inspection of fasteners. Sometimes the four bolts that hold the trunk on come loose. I frequently find loose subframe bolts on 1500's. There's four...two you can access under the seat. The other two are behind the bags, but you can access them by removing rubber plugs inside the bags.

my air compressor does not work on the goldwing. In fact the hose is not connected and the compressor fues was removed when I bought it. My guess is that it may have been leaking and the previous owner just took it off. anyway, one of my projects is to get that system working. what am i in for with this project? I was also thinking of going for some aftermarket shocks. will the air compression system work with an aftermarket shock?

The stock air shock will not have air in it by now and that may be where your noise is coming from.

Yes the system will work with Progressive #416 air shocks. They come with springs in the air shocks. The kit comes with a splitter to run the two air shocks off the stock airline.
You will need to service the compressor too. There is instructions somewhere on the site here to bake the decadent(sp?) beads, check the seals and operation of the pump, or just you will have to get another pump and still bake the beads so they are blue to get the moisture out of them.

Had a problem this summer, bottom shock eye snapped of the airshock side. Be careful its not something like that.

Took the seat off. Checked everything I could find. Top and bottom skock bolts seem to be fine. Trunk bolts are tight. Even tried putting a pry bar under the rear tire to see if I could feel any movement from swing arm or anything else. Puzzled.

I finally got around to just starting to look at the air shocks on my 88 wing. a simple fuse got the air pump working and it added pressure to the shock. BUT, I am still losing air pressure. I figure its the right side "airbag shock". I am also wondering if the hose itself could have a leak. It does not look like a difficult job to replace the shocks or hoses.
