Does anyone know how much weight a Show Chrome Receiver Hitch will hold? I made a rack that goes into the reciver but I am worried about how much weight I can put on it. The rack weights about 8 pounds and cooler about 2. But I would like to put things in the cooler.

my guess would be around 20# more.just my guess. i`ve seen pics of them carrying more with that set up.

Well I had about 25 lbs in it for about 1000 miles no problems. I geuss one thing to be aware of is on the grade angle to a level surface it will scrap. Something I really didnt think about, I did it very lightly then relized that I needed to be careful.

It's the bouncing and the metal fatigue at the welds I would be concerned about.
That box is not just pushing down like a trailer does it is actually a lever trying to pry that hitch receiver down.

A trailer does have this lever action going on but the lever is only the distance from the center of the ball to the receiver. And the ball relieves the excess mass behind it.

A cooler rack has about 20" or so of rigid leverage.

Not something I would do and expect it to be trouble free in the long term.
