GL1500s and the GL1200s, maybe others:
The topic of how to open, or how to replace a cable that has been stretched too far, comes up quite a bit.
Just for the sake of making that small piece of string last a whole lot longer, here is my take on the subject.
I put a light finger pull on the release tab.
While holding that light tug, I use the palm of the other hand to thump the center top of the saddle bag's cover.
The release cable slips out in an instant and the lid is open.
IMO, this will prevent breaking those cables or the attachments to them.
Closing the cover is just slightly different for me.
I close it until the spring latch touches, then give it a flat palm push in the top center.
I never slam them closed, and especially that top trunk lid, you best make sure that nothing is laying over the catch opening to jam it.
That's cost you 0.00375 cents.
