GL1500 tach reading high

Riding the other night and at about 1 hour in I noticed the Tach was reading high for the speed I was going. Usually don't hit 3K RPM until over 110 KPH but it was reading 3500 at just over 100K.

First thought was that maybe my clutch was slipping so I tried accelerating a couple of times and the speed increased in direct proportion to the tach, so that is OK.

Then thought maybe the speedo was reading wrong but a quick check with the GPS shows it is fine.

Next day I started a ride and all looks OK again and the tach is back to it's normal readings. About 45 minutes later it is showing high again.

Any ideas? The fact it happens after riding a while makes me think something is heating up.

Thanks,

Andy

The tach takes its reading from the ECM Andy, I suppose the first thing to do is check the connections at the 16 pin white connector under the right fairing pocket.

OK, Thanks Ted. I'll take a look to see if it is loose or has any corrosion. I have been in that pocket lately doing some connections for driving lights and things.
