I frelled up my trunk lock. While messing with my rear lights, I didn't get the latch bar into the correct location when I buttoned everything up. I followed the tips I found on the forums, and gained access to the trunk with some unwanted surgery. I was not able to remove my Corbin seat to access the back of the trunk, so I had to open up the bottom.

After re-opening the lock mech, I attached a zip tie to the bar "Just in case", and tried to make everything work again. While I was trying to hook the bar before I cut it open, I did have 1 small spring drop out. I have no idea where it goes. When I use the runk unlock lever, there is some movement in the mech, but it still does not allow the trunk to unlock, The zip tie does work.

I do see a spot between two of the levers that shows where a spring can be hooked, but I'm not sure where the other end of it goes to.

This pic shows the spring where I was trying to hook it to. It did not seem to help the trunk lever work when I tried it from that spot. If anyone can help me on this, I would really appreciate it.

I found this in the bottom of the trunk, and don't recall where it might have come from. I'm usually really good at working on the bike and not having extra part left over.

I haven't been able to locate anything that clearly explains how to reinstall the trunk release bar into the lock Mech.

Any help you all can give me is appreciated.

The extra bushing looks like a pivot bit -- I'll have to see if I can figure that one out... BUT for now, in your 2nd and 3rd photo you've got a missing spring...

here's a scribble that may help with that (the eyelet just left of center should be spring-tied to where the cable for the saddle bag (left in photo) is situated )

Second Thought == that bushing -- does it seem "bolt-sized" to you? Bolts through plastic like where the finger keys mount to the box (or the floor mounting rubbers, etc) will often have a collared washer if a flangedd bolt s not used, to prevent cracking of plastic from over-tightening... maybe??

In the pic you edited, there is a spring hanging loose just to the right of the trunk lever. I did connect it to that point, but was still not getting the trunk latch to move any of the other parts. The washer was in the bottom of the trunk, and I don't recall it coming from lock meck. It is the size of a bolt, but I couln't find any spot for it in the lock mech. It may be from another part of the trunk that has been in there for awhile.

I messed with the mech some more last night. The spring that is hanging down loose is the one that came off as I tried to open the trunk from the bottom. I connected it to the piece to the left, but it did not apply enough resistance to do anything. I think it goes higher up in the mech.
If anyone has clear pix of there's, I would appreciate it if you could post them. When I'm done fixing what I frelled up, I'll markup a pic where all the springs go for future reference.

Does anyone have the instructions on how to correctly attach the cover with the rod into place. I'm having issues getting things to fit and work like the should. Now instead of just having problems with the trunk latch, I'm having troubles with a side compartment also.

I SEE MY MISTAKE!!! In the pic, there is a spring that goes to the right, I have it going to the left. I did have the bar going under the black tab/Green dot, but I have the pring wrong. I'll open it up tonight and see if I can make it work. attaching the zip tie on the bar help when putting the Meck back together. I can line it up as I get it under the black tab.

IT WORKS!!! I was able to get the Lock Mech opened up, and put the spring on in the correct location. As soon as I did that, the luggage bags started working, but the trunk wasn't. after fiddling and tweaking it for a bit, I realized that the bar was bent from when I was initially locked out. I bent the bar up a bit and the lock started working.
