thanks for your reply randy, its much appreciated, ive just bought the 1500, the po told me when he got it it had no whips at all, it came with the mounts that are already attached to the side of the trunk, so he made the adapters to screw on top of the mounts and put two whips to them, its a neat job but the whips look like stainless steel welding rods, thing to do now is check the standing wave, my whips are 37 1/2" long 38 1/2 " if i include the screw base, thanks again for your help.

...and don't forget to include the swivel down locking joints so that you can cover your bike with somethingsmaller than a safari tent...
