Been like this for awhile and i'm finally getting around to addressing it. I assume it's the clutch switch. Looking at it, you have to pull the clutch leaver almost all the way in before it makes contact with the switch. Then pulled all the way in the switch is barely pushed in at all. Since there doesn't seem to be an adjustment on this switch, am I safe to assume it's just wore out?

possable you also need to check the pivoit pin for ware and the clutch leaver hole for ovel shape and leaver plate that hits the switch and last the tip of the switch you could stick a little plastic plate on the leaver if this is worne to make up the differance

Thanks. I thought about building up the end of the switch with some epoxy or something.

Or for $20 you could probably replace the switch and never worry about it again. Sometimes I try to over-engineer stuff, when I should just get one and be done with it.

Have you checked the switch with a ohm meter to see if it is actually working?

Had the same problem on my friends '96 1500 three weeks ago. His clutch switch had a "divit" wore in the plastic button. Filled it in with a bit of epoxy and all is fine now.
