Hi All,

I haveaquired two radio antennae for a Gl1500. One has a satin finish base, with a normal antenna cable and a "sub wire". The other antenna has a chrome finish base, with only the normal antenna cable attached.

My questions, is the sub wire necessary? What is it for? I connected the chrome finish antenna, and the radio seemed to work fine.

Thanks for all input.

Hi L8ndeb
the satin finish antennae is for 1500s up to 1994, when they changed over to chrome finish, the sub wire I suspect is an earth/ground connection.
hope this helps

Welsh Winger is right, the chrome base one is for the SE models, the brushed finish is for all Interstate, Aspencade and early (88-90) GL1500's. The extra wire is a ground wire and from 1990 this wire was done away with and an earth bracket provided instead.
