Hello Wotan and welcome to the forum. You need to tell us the year model of your bike and if it is a USA or EURO spec. In order to get something moving, I assumed (perhaps wrongly) that your bike is 2001-2005 and is USA spec. The attachment is from the service manual for this bike.
GL1800 Flashing reverse warning light
I have got a 1800.
The reverse warning light constantly flashes and I can not select reverse gear. anyone got any ideas to this problem and how to rectify it.

Yes it's a USA spec 30th Anniversary model. 1st registered November 2004. I think it's classed as an 1800A
