Been searching around in here but haven't really found what I need. So, does anybody know if there is a 12v power source somewhere under the front cowl like under the side pockets or near the top vents on a 2002 gl1800? I have a gps to wire up and it would be easier then going all the way back to the battery fuse box. Seems I remember there was a connector under the side pocket on my gl1500 but I removed the side pockets on the 1800 and did not see any. Maybe I just missed them cuzzzzzz I don't know what they look like. It does have Muth Mirrors and the add on Honda line heated grips. Maybe they used the connectors ?

Ok all you guys. Thanks for the info. I will check again tonight when II get home from work. There is wirering for muth mirrors on one side and Honda line heated grips on the other. Plus on the left side there is a an I-pod wireing installed and an inlet jack for the stereo. If those power connectors have been used where can I get that Y-connector you guys talk about/

Thanks for the links, and I did watch the video so now I will go look again. There is one installed in the trunk already by the PO and he has a usb adapter for it as well. All I need is to find that plug as I would like to hard wire the gps. But then again maybe an extra cig liter socket would be handy.

When you are delving in the rubber boot that the connector should be located in, under and forward of the left pocket, you may have to delve deep only the connection block is often well inside the boot. The video shows your roughly where the connector will be found but it may not be too obvious.

The plug that you will be finding is on the ACC circuit so will be off when the ignition is off.

One can also be fitted to the trunk/ top box lid liner and again it will be plug and play and that one can be used all the time as it is permanent live. Also available quite reasonably from Cyclemax.....

Ok you guys thanks for the info and the links. I have one cig adapter with the extra connector coming and one from electric connection with the two fuses in it. You guys are the greatest. Now why couldn't I find those on my own. duhhhh

I knew little more than you Cyclepath and certainly didn't know about that double adaptor wiring kit with the fuses built in. Wish I had when I installed mine, I had to do the wiring myself and it would have been neater as plug and play. :sadguy:

Yup. I hear ya Pete. On my 1500 I did all the wiring painstakingly by hand and used a remote fuse box. Lots of work but I like neat and tidy. These adapters will make it much easier. There is a bunch of stuff already added by the PO I may redo when I have the time. But for now it works ok. Only got two weeks left before I leave on a 10 week trip. Lots of details to do before I go. Been going over the bike from front to rear. Don't want any trouble on the road. I had 169,000 smiles on my 1500 and not one bit of trouble. Had no problem selling it...sniff, sniff... It went to a good home. Hope this 1800 proves to be as reliable.
