Yes I posted this problem here before.
Okay, I've removed the metal elbow hinges from the rear trunk lid.
I'm still getting these irritating metallic slapping sounds each time I go over ridges/lumps in the roads.
It's not the hinges that was causing this noise obviously.
I tried tightening the trunk seal and checked the rear speakers. Nothing came up!!!

Good luck!! I have been chasing rattles on my 1800 since I got it 6 years ago. I think it rattles like a old pick up truck on a rough gravel road! I have put padding on all the vents in the front fairing and that helped quite a bit. Back end is not to bad, at least I can't hear it, thanks to poor hearing. LOL! I did take everything out of the trunk and bags, still some rattles. Just stuff a bunch of clothes in the bags and trunk and ride the hezz out of it!!
