GL1800 Remote Transmitter problem

Hi everyone;

I am a new member and I just purchased a 2003 Goldwing GL1800.

I am having problems getting the remote to work.

I replaced the battery in it and I followedSteve's instructions on programing it but it still does not work. I did notice that the little light does not come on when a button is pushed. Do you think that it is just a bad remote that needs to be completely replaced or do you think it could be something else.

Thanks for any help;

Take the plastic cover off of the inside of the trunk lid and there should be a box there with wires. This is the reciever for the remote. Make sure everything is connected and clean. Also check fuse box under left side cover for any blown fuses. There is also a main connection under the seat. Check to see if you have power going to thereciever when pushing the remote buton with a light tester. I hate problems with electrical crap. Just another search and find mission. Should hear a "click" when locking or unlocking and turn signals should flash.

Just checked my remote and there is no "little light" on mine but it is an 05. Make sure the battery is in correctly.

To unlock the saddle bags and trunk. also opens the trunk. All with the push of a button, like a car fob remote.

No, but it does have a bike finder on it. Just hit the button and the horn blows about 5 times. Never have lost my bike though.:D:action:

If the light in the remote doesn't work it probably needs a new battery.

I have put a new battery in it and the small light still does not come on when I press a button. Thats what makes me think that the remote might be bad.

You can get one for a Honda CRV 02-06 a lot cheaper than for a bike and it is supposed to work. Come on down to Hot springs sometime to Orr Honda and if we have one on the shelf we can try it.

I would scour the terminals and bend them a bit so they make a good connection to the terminals. My garage door opener gave me fits till I read to clean the contacts with a pencil eraser. jimsjinx
