GL1800, trouble with audio

I have a GL1800I bought in May 2008. Today I installed the cb radio kit without any problems. I just tried to adjust the swr. After several minute working with it I decided that I was not making much of a difference and called it quits. I was doing the adjustments while the bike was running. Before disconnecting swr meter I turned the bike off. After reconnecting the cb antenna back together and turning bike back on I had no audio from any of my sources. All other electrical functions seem to work properly. I checked all the fuses and they were all good, but could not get any of the audio sources to turn on. What am I over looking?

Can you hear any static or noise? Is the audio display working but no sound?

No there is no noise of any kind. I only get my phone in my headset using the J&M bluetooth adaptor. The display screen is all normal, but shows no change when press any of the audio key selectors such as CD, CB, Navi, FM ect.

I just finished checking all connections in the trunk, under the seat and the main connector for the cb. I disconnected the cb to see if all the other audio sources would then turn and they did not. This just does not make any cense.

Just for grins and giggles, remove the positive terminal from the battery for 10 minutes and then connect it again and see what happens.

The bike is at my mechanics shop now. We totally dismantled the shelter this afternoon checking power to all points to the connectors and looms. I think I'm going to have him put itall back together tomorrow and disconnect the battery cable for awhileand letthe system reset. I've received that advice from several tonight.

If that does not work, Look for an inline fuse. There was one in mine, but it is far from an 1800. Use an ohm meter and check the hot wire and ground going into your sound system.
Good Luck,

I scratched my head over the same problem once for a while until I discovered I had the mute button pushed in.

I only wish at this point that it was something that simple, I checked that right away. If that was the case then why wouldthere be no indication on the display panel of what mode I am in such as, CD, FM, CB, and so on?The display doesn't change at allwhen I press any of the source buttons.

Hi Redrider23 did you get fixed as i am having the same problem..

I don't suppose that the CB's TX button is "pressed" or thinks that it is... (just a guess from the armchair) -- that'd mute your audio sources and not allow you to change modes.

Not switching on with the audio button.

I have had that problem a couple of times since I made that post. I can't say that I know why it happened but I haven't had it happen again in some time. I took the advice of one of the posters and disconnected the positive battery cable and let it reset itself. I read somewhere else that while using my iPod in the CD position make sure the button on the control panel for "repeat" while in CD mode hasn't been press because it causes a conflict with the iPod and locks up the audio system. I hope that helps.

Quite a few cases of button/buttons stuck a bit down with dirt or sand bits. Try firm tapping all of them a few times with key off, if disconnect doesn't work.

No sticking buttons still not swiching on.

When you connected the connector from the CB to the connection up front did you possibly disconnect the main plug at the audio unit?? A lot of times when the air filter or the shelter is raised the plug is connected on one side only and will cause the problem you describe.

Do not have CB but do have airbag and the radio buttons are down the side i did disconnect it to fit the spot lights.
