I have a 2010 gl1800hmpa(?) base model, audio/ comfort.
There is a bundle of wires going up the hinges for the trunk lid on both sides, what are they for? The bundle on the left side has completely broken off (apears to be 12 very thin gauge wires). As I recall they didn't put speakers in the trunk on my model, but I could buy a kit to add them which I never did. I also never put the spoiler on that could have a running/ brake light. Are these useless/ extra wires that I can/ should just ignore since I never put the accessories on that use them or should I try to get the dealer to replace the bundle before my extended warranty runs out in July?

There are speakers already there in the passenger arm rests, some of those wires are for those. The harness on the right also has wires for the remote trunk lock. Not sure which side has the spoiler brake light wires.

Crazzyrman, Reroute those wires to prevent a sharp bend at the hinge area. We just had a broken wire (for the remote trunk lock) on my friends 2009 GL1800. We rerouted the wires to prevent it from happening again. There have been a few known problems with broken wires at the hinge areas.

I was planning to try, but the warranty specifically says it doesn't cover the radio & I have already had other mechanical failures that they denied saying "exposure to the elements" which also is on the not covered list.

I never use the remote, its safe in the house with the spare key, I just use the key in the lock just like my gl1500s.
