Going to Mesa Feb.07 to 22

Fellas, I'm spending a couple of weeks in Mesa at Sunlife T/P to get away from these -40 temps we're having. I hauled my 82 :11grey:down there last year and left it so I've got wheels. Wondering if any Mesanians might have an open afternoon for ride. Also if you could recommend a cheap place to pick up a couple of helmets as I don't want to pack and haul ours down there.

My brother from Whitehorse Yukon is in Lake Havasu so I'll be spending a couple of days in that neck of the woods (desert) around Feb.15th

An oil change and a fork oil change and the bike should be good to go, but I best not leave any oil on the Mother-in law's driveway or I might not get invited back. :lash:

You just missed me, I was in Mesa, AZ the 29th and 30th a few days back.

Was a super fast business trip and no time to even call my friends. I really hate that part.
Well John, you'll just have to slow down and take some time out......thought you were retired????

Last year the Cal-Am Bike Gang, Sunlife Chapter does a ride every Thursday right after the free coffee and doughnuts. Also while we were there, another Cal-Am chapter hosted a club ride and FREE BBQ, must of been 100 or so riders. But we were all able to get back home to our respective club resorts, take our geritol and in bed by 8.

Cycle Gear has one store in Mesa & another in Phoenix. Cheep helmets at cheep prices....-Rich
Been to Steve's and checked out his shop. Chatted with one of his wrenches too and was pretty impressed with him. Ball parking what they might want to change my belts as I have a lack of tools and time to do it when I'm there.

Also been to D&D's and left him a bunch of money for some 2010 bling. Also hit a place called Bob's Used MC parts in Phoenix and was pretty pleased walking out with a set of hwy pegs for the 82 for $15.00, up here they're wanting $60 for the same thing.

Dougbo, I'll keep that Breakfast thing in mind and I'll PM you with a contact number when I get down there if you want to do an afternoon or just have a beer.
Thanks Redeye, I'll check them out. I was also thinking of that overgrown market they have there. I think I remember seeing helmets in there last year. There was also a bike wear store that was next to a Harley shop closer to downtown Mesa.
The bike wear shop next to the Harley shop is Cycle Gear, which is where I'd recomend going. It's on Country Club just north of Southern on the west side.

Having dealt with Steve's before (I live less than three miles from 'em), I would say use caution. From the couple of times I've gone there, I personally think they cut corners and cost too much, but they are one of the only places that will even look at these old bikes, so sometimes you're kinda stuck... and they know it (this is why there are no repairs I'm afraid to try on my bike now... except tires :)).

Bob's is good for used parts, but pickin's is gettin' slim there for goldwings lately. If you need any, or foresee needing any new parts, I'd recomend ordering them from Western Honda in Scottsdale and picking 'em up while you're here 'cause ya can't beat their prices or service.

As far as meeting up, I'll have to see what gets set up. My class schedule and HW load are insane this semester, but if I can swing it I'll be there. So keep us updated :waving:

Thanks Kevin. We shall see how it goes.
I have arrived. Rented a lil Cooper mini..love it!!! Start to work on the goldwing tomorrow and looking forward to gettin ridin
Fork oil, engine oil, final drive done. Battery was cooked (Gel Battery) Wal-mart and $60.00 later and a lil stubborn to start and smoke like crazy but the ol 82 is running. My request for cheap helmets turned into $130 each for a bell shorty with the pop down visor so I look like I'm flying a jet, but What's Her Name had to have one.
:ROFL: Don't ya hate it when that happens? And what makes it worse is it's been a typical arizona 70+ degree winter for the last two weeks, then you come down and it's bloody freezing today. So now you got your helmets and your old girl up and runnin' and ya get to ride freezing.

Did ya have to bring the cold crap with ya too?:wtf:

Yeah, and they told me they were putting Dunlop E2's on my bike when they really put 404's on it... at least they had the dignity to only charge me for the 404's, but they did SAY E2's... and you should see what they did to my self-cancel system...
