I have just come back from the North Wales Wing-Ding where I met a very nice chap who was doing on site Gold Plating which was absolutely brilliant with a lifetime gaurantee. I was gutted however as my wife bought me the plated Honda cylinder head covers last month. They are £211 less discount to around £160 from the dealers and have the Honda Logo on them. This guy was gold plating the existing covers with the 1800 logo on them for £50 and they were so good you couldn't tell the difference between the ones done for £50 and mine which cost £160. He will be at the British Treffen and I intend passing his details to the Irish Club to see if he will be asked to attend the Irish Treffen, as Gold Plating covers are excellent on the 1800 and it is over £100 cheaper than the Honda accessory. He also plated Clutch and brake cylinder covers and anything that is chrome at very reasonable prices. He does it on the spot whilst you wait. He also gold plates the tops of nuts, bolts and screws etc as well. I am not exaggerating when I say that this guy was brilliant at the Wing-Ding and will be very busy at the Treffen. He is also very good at what he does.

That would be something different to look forward too. It's people like this that the members want to see at the treffen. I hope he can attend. :) :D ;).

Chris I was wondering if Nick ever confirmed if he was able to make it to Limerick. I promised him my old Chrome cylinder head cover to use to demonstrate on as I was badly caught buying the Honda Original for almost 4 times what he was charging? I was going to bring it to him in Limerick if he is coming.

If you go to the North Wales website and look at the South Wales wingding Photos under the heading traders you will see more examples of what he can do to your bike. It is brilliant.

Nick Fowler came along to the Irish Treffen on Wednesday and until Friday afternoon when I arrived he had one single customer. It was a very disappointing result for him and I was somewhat embarrassed, given I had made the initial contact. When I spoke to him on Friday he was running at a loss of around £300 for the weekend. To make up for my embarrassment I gave him my 1800 for the entire weekend and he used it as a demonstration of some of his work which was fullypaid for by me. Thankfully the demonstration seemed to work as things picked up on the Saturday and he just about broke even. All credit must go to the Treffen organisors for the way they treated Nick and there were no complaints there. I do feel however that if there is a genuine interest in having something unusual like this at a Treffen which can save us all money, the least we can do is give him a little of our business to make his journey worthwhile. Unfortunately if we don't they simply won't come back and it's our loss.

Well John,Nick has several of us booked in for next week at the UK Treffen, myself included. He didn't have time to do my bike yesterday as it was getting late, but the exposure will ensure that he gets more of us for next week (I reckon many of thelads that missed out on this and are going to the UK will plump for the gold plating), so I would say the excercise will be worthwhile. We can get some photos of Nick doing his thing next weekend (forgot my camera this time) and I will post a page for him on the main part of the site where he should be guaranteed exposure. I can give the lads a hand by stripping the covers off for them and this will save some time as I'm sure Nick is going to be in demand next week.

As to the Treffen, the venue in Limerick was perfect. First rate facilities and everyone I spoke to was very impressed. Hats off to Chris Scanlon and his team for a job well done, and it's not an easy job either.

Littlejohn,

Yes, I was his only other customer up to about 3oc or so on Saturday. Nick did an excelent job on a few engine pieces, and for very little money. The results are wellworth it, and so unique. I also spoke briefly to his "manager", she was very helpful also.

So thanks,Littlejohn, if you were responsible for his being there, this is one happy customer.
